RUNNY NOSE
OPERA FOR TINY TOTS
6 MONTHS TO 4 YEARS
Nose wants to be free.
Eye looks at Nose and says Nose has a wild hair.
It falls on deaf ears.
Ear tells Eye to shut up and mouth is tongue-tied.
Nose wants to go look beyond its tip.
A nosy opera for snotty and sniffing young children. Two singers/musicians and a video artist/guitarist present a sensory representation in 5 acts, inspired by the parts of the face.
Eye, ear, nose, skin and mouth make their way through the face. Sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch make a sensory experience possible.
In a world of selfies, facial expression and fake masking, the choice for video is almost self-evident. Even very young children know how to pose dramatically in front of mobile phones.
Based on ‘The Nose’ by Gogol.
Inspired by operas by Händel, Purcell, Delibes, Gershwin, Shostakovich and Offenbach.
